Apartotel Girasol, Jacó

Girasol sells five room types. Four are 42 m² apartments that differ mainly in bed setup and floor; the fifth is a smaller studio with a sea view. Only the One-Bedroom Apartment sleeps more than two.

For families, the One-Bedroom Apartment is the only choice for four. Keep in mind that several guests found the air conditioning only in the bedroom, so whoever sleeps on the sofa bed in the living room may be warm; fans are listed in every unit.

For couples, it comes down to bed size and stairs. The Deluxe has the biggest bed, while the Superior and Deluxe were priced the same in January. The upper-floor apartments are reached by stairs only, and a couple of guests found the stairs narrow or awkward with luggage, so book the Ground Floor apartment if that matters. The Studio with Sea View is the smallest unit and has no kitchenette; one guest loved the ocean view, another found the bathroom small and the stairs to it narrow.

Prices and rates. When we priced a three-night stay for two in mid-November 2026, the One-Bedroom Apartment was cheapest at $381.73 in total (about $127 a night), the Ground Floor apartment $477.16, the Superior $494.84 and the Deluxe $565.53. For 12 to 15 January 2027, the One-Bedroom, Ground Floor and Studio all started at $477.16 (about $159 a night) and the Superior and Deluxe at $600.88. Every rate was room only, and VAT was included in the total, with no other taxes or fees listed. A refundable rate cost about 10% more than a non-refundable one in both pulls. Across 161 reviews, Girasol scores 9.1 out of 10. The review analysis rates location (9.5) and service (9.46) highest and value for money (8.74) lowest. We read every English-language review with written comments, 62 of them from June 2023 to October 2026, paying most attention to the 18 posted since August 2025.

The location wins almost everyone over. Guests describe walking out of the gate onto the beach, a garden with a huge old tree that shades the lawn before the sand, and an easy walk to restaurants, surf shops and grocery stores. Several note that this southern part of town is quieter than the centre.

The apartments and grounds come next. Reviews call the units spacious and well equipped for cooking, the pool clean and the gardens well kept. One family used the outdoor showers after a day out, and one had the manager arrange their airport shuttle.

The complaints are consistent too. Air conditioning that cools only the bedroom is the most repeated one. Some recent guests had air conditioning or hot water fail, and a few found the units tired, the beds firm, or basics such as kitchen staples, extra towels and pillows missing. Several said the office was often unstaffed, which delayed check-in, and a few on longer stays had no housekeeping. Some rooms face the road and pick up traffic noise.

Girasol is on Calle Sol D'Oro on the south side of Jacó, about 700 metres in a straight line from the centre of town and right behind Jacó Beach. Most guests walk into town for food and shopping, so you can manage without a car; if you do drive, parking is free on site.

The nearest international airport is San José (SJO). Ask the property about an airport transfer when you book: it lists an airport shuttle at an extra charge, and one recent guest had the manager organise theirs.
