Parador is the big full-service resort of Manuel Antonio: 12 acres of rainforest on the Punta Quepos headland, several pools, a spa and wildlife on the grounds. Guests score it 9.4 out of 10. It is not on the beach and not all-inclusive, and the rooms are comfortable rather than stylish. Check live room prices for your dates below.

Why Guests Choose It

  • Service is the standout. Guests rate it 9.96 out of 10, the highest of the eight categories in its review analysis.
  • Wildlife without leaving the property. Capuchin and howler monkeys, sloths, macaws and iguanas come up in review after review, and the grounds have their own jungle trail.
  • Built for a resort stay: several pools including an adults-only one, a spa, mini golf, a kids' pool and a playground, so families can spend whole days on site.
  • Close to the national park: about 1.5 km from Manuel Antonio National Park, on the Punta Quepos headland.
  • Free parking and free Wi-Fi for guests.

Best for

  • Families who want pools, activities and wildlife on site
  • First-timers who want a resort with several restaurants rather than a small boutique hotel
  • Travellers who rate service above room design

Think twice if

  • You want to walk out of your room onto the sand: it is not a beachfront hotel
  • You want all-inclusive: rates are room only or with breakfast
  • You want modern design: a few recent guests found the rooms dated

Beautiful property surrounded by nature. Our room with a private garden was clean and comfortable and the facilities were excellent. We loved the opportunity to see wildlife, including a sloth!

“We absolutely loved our stay and the staff was phenomenal.”

The property was beautiful. We loved seeing monkeys, macaws, and sloths right on the property. The view from the restaurant was stunning.

The room and bathroom could use more hooks to hang wet clothes and bathing suits

“Breathtaking views, and incredible wildlife”

Loved the hotel, the friendly staff, and the facilities. The view from the pool is amazing! We also loved seeing all the wildlife on the premises—monkeys, sloths, lizards, mockingbirds, and so many more. It really made the stay feel special.

Location, staff especially the bell boys

Mold, humidity and outdated rooms - nothing to do with 5 star hotel

“Nice hotel with beautiful views”

Beautiful ocean views, great food, very easy to spot wildlife (iguanas, sloths, monkeys, etc.), nice beaches, friendly staff.

Our first room had a strong humidity smell, we were offered a different room which was kind but had two many stairs (not ideal with young kids). The beach that is near the hotel is not convenient with young kids (steep and muddy walk for 15min, uphill for the return).

Which Room to Book at Parador

Parador sells seven room types, and they split into two groups. The standard rooms are all 38 to 40 m², and all but the Premium Double sleep up to four, so for most couples and families the choice comes down to bed setup and price. The Vista Suites are almost twice the size and sleep two.

RoomSizeSleepsBeds
Garden Room38 m²42 queen or 2 double beds
Room, Terrace, Garden View38 m²42 queen beds
Superior Double Room with Two Double Beds38 m²42 double beds
Superior Room, 2 Queen Beds (Tropical)40 m²42 queen beds
Premium Double Room39 m²21 queen bed
Vista Suite65 m²21 king bed
Vista Suite (Adults Only)65 m²21 super-king bed and a sofa bed

For families, book a room that sleeps four: the Garden Room, Terrace Garden View or one of the two Superior rooms. The Garden Room opens onto the gardens a few steps from the restaurants, spa and main pool.

For couples, the Vista Suite is the upgrade, but it costs a lot more. When we priced a three-night stay in mid-November 2026, the cheapest Vista Suite rate was more than double the cheapest standard room. Unless the suite's extra space matters to you, a standard room and the money spent on tours goes further.

Pick the rate as carefully as the room. In the same November pull, a room-only, non-refundable rate was about 20% cheaper than a rate with breakfast and free cancellation. Guests consistently praise the breakfast buffet, and food and drinks at the resort are not cheap, so the breakfast rate is usually worth it.

What Guests Say About Parador

Across all 1,652 reviews, Parador scores 9.4 out of 10, and the review analysis rates service (9.96), overall experience (9.86) and location (9.5) highest. Cleanliness is its lowest category at 8.49. We read the 60 most recent reviews, from March to September 2026, and the same themes came up again and again.

The wildlife is the first thing people mention. Monkeys, sloths, macaws and iguanas live on the grounds, and several guests saw them from their balcony or the pool. One guest's tip: the macaws gather in a tree in the car park at about 7 a.m.

Staff and breakfast come next. Reviews describe the team as attentive and helpful, and the breakfast buffet is praised more than any other meal.

The complaints are consistent too. Food and drink prices at the resort are high (one guest paid $6 for a small coffee). Some rooms show their age, and a few guests found their room damp or musty. A handful wished the resort were right on a beach.

What You Should Know

  • Parador is not on the beach. Several guests used a shuttle to a sister beachfront property, and others went down to Playa Biesanz, about 2 km away. Ask at check-in what is included in your stay.
  • Recent guests used the resort's shuttle to get to Manuel Antonio National Park, about 1.5 km away. The resort lists its shuttle service at an extra charge.
  • If a room smells damp on arrival, say so straight away. Room odours are the most common complaint in the review analysis, which notes guests being upgraded after reporting it.
  • Book a rate with breakfast. It is the meal guests praise most, and buying food at the resort is expensive.

Getting to Parador

Parador sits on the Punta Quepos headland, about 1.5 km from Manuel Antonio National Park. The nearest airport is Quepos–La Managua (XQP), a small domestic airport about 6 km away. Most international visitors fly into San José (SJO), about 120 km away, and continue by road; see our San José to Manuel Antonio guide for shuttles and driving.

The resort lists an airport shuttle and a local shuttle service, both at an extra charge. The road out to the headland is steep, so if you are not renting a car, plan to use the shuttle or taxis to reach Quepos and the restaurants along the ridge.

From the resort it is easy to reach the area's main sights: guided tours of the national park, the Isla Damas mangrove tours about 4.5 km away, and Marina Pez Vela in Quepos for boat trips.
